FLAME OF BATTLE

In the flame of battle, even the innocent get burned…

Dyrfinna is a born commander. She bests her peers in dragon riding, sword fighting, and battle strategy. So when the Queen calls the people of Skala to battle to revenge her murdered daughter, Dyrfinna outfits a ship and brings a crew.

Once in the field, Dyrfinna leads her troops to victory in a series of hard-fought battles against overwhelming odds. Yet a commander is raised over her, and because of his clumsy leadership, a great disaster results in the massacre of a quarter of the Queen’s army. Then the commander unfairly blames a second disaster on Dyrfinna. The wrong stroke of her sword could undo everything she’s ever worked for, earn her the fury of her friends ... and exile to certain death.

But you can't keep a true warrior down. When things are darkest, a flame rises out of the desolation.

On the 3rd of June 1975 in New York, Edward and Pearl Riley receive the ultimate give of love - a newborn baby, wrapped in a blanket and stuffed in a burlap bag. The child's name, Sakkara, is written out on a torn sheet of paper, and immediately fills every void the married couple has ever had.

RED

Red the Wolf Tracker

Being normal is underrated.

Red Ryder has been going to Wonderland Guardian Academy since middle school, but she still doesn't belong. At 16 years old, she doesn't have any magical talents to speak of, and the rest of her peers know it. She may as well be a typical, mundane human, and the witch sisters make her school life miserable. How is she supposed to help humanity as a guardian when she may as well be one of them?

But Red is a wolf tracker--though she doesn't come into her powers until the death of the current wolf tracker in her family, her grandmother. Her blood carries the wolfsbane gene, the only thing that helps humans build a resistance to the Lycan virus. Her family has been donating blood for ages in the hopes of keeping the virus at bay.

When her grandmother becomes too sick to do her job, the werewolf community wonders why their tracker has gone on hiatus. And one pack alpha decides it's time to get rid of the line of wolf trackers once and for all.

ROOM 423

Jeff thought little of the change of management at work. To him it was just a new set of people coming in to run things. It was not as if his job changed at all, no one’s did. It was business as usual. It was not until another co-worker pointed out a strange occurrence since the new management took over – people had started to go missing. Jeff chalked it up to people unhappy with the change and quitting, but when his friend is the next to ‘up and quit’, never heard from again, Jeff starts to believe there is more going on than mere disgruntled employees.

Demanding to know what happened to his friend, Jeff tries to meet with the new leadership, only to get a chilly reception. He is denied repeatedly for a request to meet with his HR rep. Why can’t he talk to management? Why are they so distant? Just what is happening behind the door of Room 423?
